Some of my favorite pictures so far!

Years ago, I was asked why, given my travels, did I not have many pictures, to which I responded that I just was not “into” picture-taking.  Somewhere along the way that changed and I now wish I had started taking them sooner.  I have no illusions about being particularly good at it, nor do I aspire to be a modern Ansel Adams or make half-time on Super Bowl Sunday.  I simply find them fun to take and are even better when shared!

The following represent some personal favorites that I have taken so far…

This one is a sunrise in central Florida.  I have not placed these pictures in any particular order, except maybe for the first and the last ones.

This one is of the Florida State Fair in Tampa last year.   I snapped most of these simply because l found something interesting about the scene.

I captured this picture at a zoo and what struck me about it was that the two animals really seemed to be visiting with each other!

This picture was taken at the moment that Legoland Florida was officially opened to the public last year and confetti was flying everywhere!

This one captured the final lift-off of the Space Shuttle Challenger (my first shuttle launch), which was the third to the last shuttle lift-off!

This picture was taken late at night by a very tired elf who wanted to add some cheer to the season!

I happened upon this view when in Yellowstone three Winters ago and I had to try to capture it!

This one found me on the same trip while I was leaving the park.  He was so close that I could almost reach out and touch him!

I stumbled upon this view (not literally!) while taking the stairs in a hotel in Savannah recently.

I noticed these “Whirligigs” (that is what they are called) while walking the dogs one evening.

One of my kids dragged me outside to see this a couple of weeks ago and I am glad that he did!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures because  I certainly had fun taking them!  In case you are wondering, I used a Kodak EasyShare camera to take most of them.  Also,  I have others posted here if you are interested in seeing some more;  http://bit.ly/y2SmUW

  2. Great pictures! I plan to spend much time in Florida next winter, and I hope that someday I get to see a bison walking down the road.

  3. Good pictures. I’ve never been much of a picture-taker, mostly because I find it takes me “out of the moment”. I can either take pictures, or enjoy the moment, but I can’t do both.

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog (This, that and the other thing). It gave me chance to come by and visit you. I like photography a lot, too. I especially like your confetti picture and the one of the stairs. The colors in the first are eye-catching and the perspective in the second is fun. We’ve been to Yellowstone and seen the bison. Never ceases to amaze me that people, despite the warnings handed out when you enter the park and the size of a bison’s head, will get close to have a picture taken or, worse, try to get their children near the bison for a picture. Hmmmm, what part of “wild animal” don’t they get? 🙂

I too seem to be going back to digital photos I took several years ago and sharing them on my blog; my next step is get to those old film prints. How the times change….

  10. Hi, like you, I have travelled – extensively, but I have only recently ‘discovered’ the point to adding pics to my ramblings! My first blog is about a very serious matter, a situation that has come close to destroying the lives of my family and me, so I decided not to use pics this time. However, all things being equal, I hope to add pics to my next blog. I feel it would be good to share my pics of the Alps, the Pyrenees, the Auvergne mountain ranges, the beauty of French countryside, history and culture, with others who share their pics of different countries and cultures. Like you, I am not a photographer, but taking ‘snaps’ of ‘this moment’ really does help me to keep memories of dates and events clear, that’s very important to somebody of my age who wants to keep the brain cells active! I am thoroughly enjoying reading what you write, you have a wonderful style that I find relaxing, a real pleasure. Kindest regards, Chrissie

    • Hi! I also LOVE photography! Landscapes are wonderful especially when the air is crystal clear, and you use a polarising filter to bring out the cerulean blue of the sky and the crisp white clouds.
I enjoy taking close cropped, almost abstract images, and black and white shots of antiques and machinery.
Your pictures are really good! I love the descending spiral staircase – good composition.
      Will we see more, soon?

I will continue to browse your posts and sincerely hope you will enjoy reading a few more of my older posts of our travels to The Florida Keys and all through out Florida and along the Gulf Coast. I still have many more memories to share.
    Thanks again!

  17. Anthony I absolutely adore your photo’s. Can I ask what type of camera you use as the colours and depth which you are capturing are truly beautiful.

I have just got into photography by accident really 3 weeks ago when the photo challenge was “Hope” and I managed to capture the snowfall we had and since then I have ‘tried’ my best with the subsequent themes but I am completely new to this. A couple of cameras, other than my phone, have come my way over time and need studying and the necessary bits needed bought for them; I’m going to take it up as a sideline hobby, and I am excited especially when I see beautiful images like yours and my other fellow bloggers.

These pictures are outstanding, you should feel very proud. I’m getting more and more inspired as I visit others blogs. Thank you for sharing these and I wish you a fantastic weekend ! 🙂

I was right back in that moment today. All of your pictures here are wonderful — wish they were bigger!! So much to see in each one. Great post.
